Client Challenge

The client is a leading Life Sciences company that operates worldwide, employing around 6,000 people who are dedicated to providing advanced healthcare solutions. From the start, the company’s largest business segment has experienced significant growth, leading to the establishment of numerous internal factories around the world, as well as partnerships with several third-party suppliers for their additional product range.

However, some of these internal factories have not been up to the desired Life Sciences standards, suffering from inadequate productivity or lacking sufficient investment to ensure optimal performance.

Assignment

  • Opticos defined a new Manufacturing Footprint Strategy based on the current manufacturing setup, the latest business plan, market and customer expectations, regulations and guidelines, and geopolitical challenges. This strategy should enable the fulfillment of the business plan, at a lower cost, with less risk, and more sustainable than today.
  • The work was conducted in close collaboration with the Executive Team, Factory Leadership, and Core Central Experts. Opticos facilitated and developed the Manufacturing Footprint Strategy, including a tool for business simulations of the different Manufacturing Footprint scenarios.

Client Benefits

  • Opticos created a comprehensive decisionmaking framework that considered expected capabilities, cost and revenue impacts, risks, and opportunities for a future manufacturing footprint. They developed relevant manufacturing scenarios with a roadmap, investment plan, and a “scenario tool” designed to review and simulate various manufacturing configurations.
  • The project necessitated strong collaboration among crucial central and local stakeholders at the different manufacturing plants.
